THEATER: Saramago’s A Maior Flor do Mundo opens in Viana do Castelo

Teatro do Noroeste – Centro Dramático de Viana premieres A Maior Flor do Mundo, by José Saramago, directed by Isabel Barros, this Saturday, October 15th, at 5pm, in the Experimental Room of Teatro Municipal Sá de Miranda, in Viana do Castelo.

The 151st creation of the Viana do Castelo company marks its return to schools after the pandemic interruption, with 55 presentations in pre-school and elementary school in the municipality of Viana do Castelo, for a universe of 2,500 children and 180 teachers, as part of the School Theater project of the Education Service of Teatro do Noroeste – Centro Dramático de Viana.

In A Maior Flor do Mundo, José Saramago becomes a character and tells how he always wanted to write a children’s book about a boy who gives birth to something much bigger than his child size.

With co-creation and interpretation by Alexandre Calçada and Elisabete Pinto, set design by José Luís Guimarães, light design by Bruno Ferreira, and costume support by Adriel Filipe, A Maior Flor do Mundo will also have two sessions at Teatro Municipal Sá de Miranda, on October 15th and 22nd, Saturdays, at 5pm.

The October 22nd session will feature Stage Recognition – Seeing with the Hands, Simultaneous Translation into Portuguese Sign Language – GESTU, and a Post-Show Talk – DIGESTIVO.

The price of tickets for the sessions for general audiences varies between 4€ and 10€ and can be purchased at the Teatro Municipal Sá de Miranda Ticket Office and BOL – Online Ticket Office.
