The Municipality of Viana do Castelo (CMVC) and the Teatro do Noroeste – Centro Dramático de Viana (TN-CDV), resident company of the Municipal Theater Sá de Miranda (TMSM) have already adapted their entire annual program to the new confinement.
More than 50 different theater, dance and music shows are adapting to take place, such as, for example, D.A.M.A on January 30, Tiago Bettencourt on April 24 and Olga Roriz on June 11. In addition, contemporary dance will also be in focus from April 27 to May 2, with the hosting of the DDD + FITEI festival.
As for its own creations, Englishman Graeme Pulleyn stages the first premiere of the year, on February 24, with Palhaço Verde, for children and teenagers, and on March 27, Estrada de Terra is Tiago Correia’s new creation, with debut absolute, in coproduction A Turma / TN-CDV, performed by Alexandre Calçada, Ana Moreira and Pedro Lamares. It follows, on April 22, Noites de Caxias, with text and staging by Ricardo Simões and interpretation by Ana Perfeito, and on September 10, Fernando Gomes debuts the comedy Inconsulável Viúva, based on O Urso by Anton Tchékhov. On December 6, the Teatro do Noroeste – CDV premieres Hantígona, written and directed by Guillermo Heras, with translation by Alexandra Moreira da Silva.
In the year in which it marks 30 years of activity, Teatro do Noroeste – CDV launched, in close partnership with the Viana do Castelo City Hall, an innovative website (www.tmsm.pt), which includes features that allow the rental and purchase of videos and live broadcasts of shows presented at Teatro Municipal Sá de Miranda.
