Introductory text for the 2022 Program:
We are going to the sixth edition of the annual Viana do Castelo theater festival, which always happens in November, on the fixed dates from 10 to 18, with the exception last year, which, still as a consequence of the pandemic, had two more days.
But if we wanted to throw away the difficulties, they just transformed. Today, it is the barbaric war in Europe and the change of cycle in the support for the arts in Portugal that impose options.
A more focused agenda, in which the excellence of the aesthetic diversity and the mediation and accessibility of all the shows remain the hallmarks of this professional theater festival that belongs to all of us and for all of us.
Like everything that Teatro do Noroeste – Centro Dramático de Viana proposes, the Viana do Castelo Theater Festival has the mission of contributing to the qualification of the cultural experience of audiences and artists of contemporary theater in the territory of Alto Minho.
In the halls of the Municipal Theatre Sá de Miranda, the human assemblies of the word and thought that the festival provides will take place, through the professional work of people and institutions to whom we dedicate our gratitude, when we are about to complete the commemoration program of three decades of professional artistic creation activity, through the cycle 30 Years of Future.
