Synopsis
Stuttering is a communication disruption, in which one knows exactly what he means, but his speech turns out not to be fluent. The sound result derived from this disturbance is deeply expressive and musical. WHO SPEAKS So is a multidisciplinary project that unites two composers in collaborative work, instrumentalists and multimedia artists in a show about the sound and artistic potential of stuttering. Parallel to the artistic creation/concern, this project seeks to intervene in the social reflection for stuttering. In this way, public sessions of debate and training are planned on the main impetus for this creative process: the communicative limitations of a stutterer and its social consequences. When we consider speech a musical expression, with gesture, melody, rhythm and harmony itself, stuttering is a means of parametric variation. If we add the fact that there are no two equal stutters, each with different types of pauses, repetitions and interjections, the palette of possibilities is immense. With this show we intend to value and salute the human difference, through a narrative that addresses the origin of stuttering, its constraints, prejudices, inhibitions and myths. WHO SPEAKS So intends to be an artistically experimental and eclectic project, of sociocultural intervention.
