Note of Condolence for António Reis
António Reis, actor and cultural programmer, passed away.
An essential figure of the theatrical activity in the city of Porto, António Reis was a theatre person who influenced generations of performing arts professionals through the activity of Seiva Trupe and FITEI – International Festival of Theatre of Iberian Expression, company and festival of which he was one of the founders and directors.
About the theatrical profession he used to say with conviction that “there are many artists, what we need is theatre people”, a defining motto of his commitment to this art, which was never incompatible with his passion for Boavista Futebol Clube, of which he was also a fervent supporter and associate.
Charismatic, with a frank and temperamental spirit, António Reis remained in the hearts of many people who had the privilege of working with him for over 50 years of career, during which he was awarded several prizes and distinctions, including by the Presidency of the Portuguese Republic.
His legacy also endures in buildings such as the Teatro do Campo Alegre, a building that resulted from decades of activity of the Seiva Trupe, a company of which António Reis was always a pillar.
To his family and friends, we dedicate our respectful condolences in this hour.
